Renting an Alamo hire car to pick up in Kentucky is hassle-free, and you have the opportunity to select a model to meet you and your family or party's needs. It is the most convenient and economical way to travel while you are enjoying your holiday.
Kentucky is a great state of balance; it has everything, all very low key, so although you might have to look a little for those exciting holiday highlights, it really won't take you a lot of effort to track them down.
Kentucky's cities, such as Louisville and Covington, have a lot of charm, history and culture that can't really be missed if you want to have a deep slice of Kentucky pie (or really, more appropriately, Kentucky barbecue). You'll find museums, historic buildings and some great places to eat; indulgent and cheap, so you can pile your plate high and go back for more if you think you can handle it!
Furthermore, if you like to get around and see the scenery for yourself, the Appalachian foothills are just a stone's throw from anywhere, and once you've hiked here, it may well spoil it for you anywhere else!
The largely rural nature of Kentucky means that your own private vehicle is a must, especially if you're interested in a more active or interest-driven type of holiday. Once you've picked it up, you can get yourselves over to Mammoth Cave, officially the most lengthy cave system in the world, deep beneath the rolling farmland, or even check out Kentucky's bourbon distilleries, world famous for a reason. In fact, if whisky and bourbon is your thing, you can follow the Bourbon Trail all the way through the state for much enjoyment and many distilleries.
Bluegrass music is a sure thing in the Bluegrass State, so don't just pick out the biggest bars and chains when you're in the towns; the little ones often run some seriously feet-tapping live music nights that shouldn't be missed.
You can easily hire a car at Louisville International Airport to obtain a car and start your holiday with gusto and freedom, and all the things that make non-package holidays a real joy.
If you visit in the late spring time, the Kentucky Derby takes place around the end of April, with racetracks at Churchill Downs, and near to Lexington, and it's a great time to see a lot of horses at their best, and to soak up the atmosphere of enthusiasm. If you like the company of horses, there are some very well maintained stables across the state where you can hire a horse for a day and take a trek to remember.
